Oh yes. The decade of my teen years produced this delightful relic of a time long gone.
Hairsprayed bangs and airbrushed eyeshadow?
Check.
Shoulderpads?
Check.
Extreme batwing sleeves?
Check.
Bad ribbing?
Check.
Intarsia Zebra with scary red eye and creepy red tongue?
Oh God . . . It’s looking right at me . . .
You will notice that this sweater and its disdainful bearer seem to have actually emerged from the glowing mouth of hell. We should all hope that they have returned to the firey realm from whence they came, never to be seen again by mortal folk.

hats off to Alison who tipped us off that we need to distribute Opal’s Sideways Sock Pattern to the masses.

When you buy a ball of sock yarn from the Hundertwasser Collection, you will receive, inside the ball band, the pattern for the Sideways Sock Pattern. in german. now, that’s fair enough, but i don’t even think my three years of high school german would help me out there.
also: thanks so much to Trish, our Opal wholesaler for providing the pattern so quickly, and also for making even more revisions to the pattern, in hopes to make the translation even easier to navigate through.
now you can make your own! enjoy!

from some of the nicest people we have met in vermont, ariadne is pleased to give you a sneak peak at a new yarn from the Vermont Organic Fiber Company:
O-Wool Balance

for a jumbo-sized view of the colours, go here.
Balance is 50% merino wool and 50% cotton. Its earthy look and softness will make this yarn great for light sweaters, spring and summer projects and children’s clothing.
Like the O-Wool Classic, it is made from 100% certified organic fibers and processed in accordance with the Organic Trade Association’s Fiber Processing Standards.
Dyeing the blended fibers produces a subtle tweed effect. Its so beautiful, and will be arriving this spring to ariadne.
we are pleased to provide yarn and materials to knitters and crocheters who care about supporting a sustainable environment. we will make an announcement when our shipment arrives!

It’s the look of horrified delight on her face. Like she just walked into her own surprise party only to see every guy she ever dated–and their wives.
Notice how her legs have already turned around to leave, and her hair is doing its best to stand on end . . . except that it’s been laquered into place.
Maybe if the sweater was knit in this, it would undo some of the environmental damage from all that Aquanet.
Really, she could just close that collar up around her face and sneak away incognito.
