Vintage Horror: Time to be Pretty

    July 27th, 2007 by M.A.

From the pages of “Gay Teen Ideas” :

    time-to-be-pretty.jpg

This particular brand of head-covering was commonly referred to as a fascinator – which for some reason I find hilarious.

I just love the layout of the page, and the fact that said mantilla with its beguiling ways is more or less the Tasha Tudor shawl.

Yes, it makes you “so lovely to look at.”

    Vintage Horror: Gay Teen Ideas

    July 23rd, 2007 by M.A.

Here’s a title that wouldn’t get published today:

    gay-teen-ideas.jpg

Title aside, there isn’t a whole lot that is horror-inspiring about this cover. Her hair is fabulous, and I think I bought her sweater at a second-hand store last winter.

Cocker Spaniels are a bit high-strung though.

The content, however, is clearly aimed at a different set of teenagers than those haunting the tattoo parlours and piercing studios of today:

    re-here-to-tell-you.jpg

Unless they mean something by “the coke crowd” that I’m just willfully ignoring. But then again, they have those faboo crocheted coke-bottle coozies (or cosies) so I’m assuming they mean the bottled beverage.

Actually, I’m only partially sure that this page is actually written in English. The forgotten slang of yester-year no longer has a whole lot of meaning. Fo’ shizzle.
