You've seen them on the metro, buses, in parks, on the news: people are knitting, AND YOU CAN TOO!
Over the course of 3 two-hour classes, Prof. Peabody (a.k.a. Jonathan) will guide you through the basics of knitting: casting on, knit and purl stitch, stitch patterns, changing colours, changing balls, recognizing and correcting dropped stitches and deciphering all those abbreviations! By the end of 3 weeks, you'll be ready to dive into the exciting world of hand knitting, set to embark on your first project!
Jonathan Ayers learned to knit as a child, but it was in the last 5 years that his passion for the craft began to develop into an obsessive compulsion. After landing a part-time job in a yarn store in Edmonton, he quickly bought up an enormous stash of yarn (Ravelry avatar: misterstash). Fascinated by techniques, he seeks to understand the guiding principles behind patterns, to develop his own designs. He views knitting as an art and a craft, a practice of patience, a language, an intensely personal/communal expression. And he thinks its fun, too.
